Category:Fora Bolsonaro 19J (2021-06-19 - Porto Alegre, Brasil)

Just other files at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Mogilyovskiye_gubernskiye_vedomosti_1862 have the year in the name. Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 09:02, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

Issues with file renaming
[edit]Hello Heylenny, I learned that you executed file renamings that can easily be seen as controversial. I cannot understand why you used a criterion 4 rationale in Special:Diff/1161510528, as File:Patti Smith (Haldern Pop Festival 2014) IMGP4076 smial wp.jpg is totally fine according to COM:FN conventions and the footnote for the criterion itself. It's not up to you or another filemover to enforce some arbitrary naming pattern, as you did with other Haldern Pop festival images too, another example when the given filename is already good. In fact, these actions may have been an abuse of FR privileges. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 19:36, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Grand-Duc: Hi, my intention was to standardize the filenames within Category:Haldern Pop Festival 2014 by removing trailing elements such as "smial wp", even though the previous names were acceptable (which is why I kept the redirects). If you consider this incorrect, I can revert the renamings without any problem. heylenny (talk/edits) 20:01, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- Please do. In fact, removing parts like "smial wp" may actually infringe upon licensing terms (when looking at Creative Commons licenses), as we've got to keep work titles intact if possible ("smial" the nickname of the author) - the FAL could be more permissible in that regard. I'm using a similar pattern (with my initials), example File:Rhönschaf-Weidberg bei Kaltenwestheim HBP-2019-04-28.jpg. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 20:15, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Grand-Duc I've reverted the files to their original names. Thanks for the clarification. heylenny (talk/edits) 20:44, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, too! In fact, I think that FR#4 is only seldom to be used: did you see the footnote "4" affixed as explanation to it on COM:FR? There IMHO aren't much use cases for it left besides formatting for template uses or for simulating a scanned book as described in that footnote, except when the actual uploader is requesting a renaming as FR#4 where they could very well also have used FR#1. As I see it, the bread an butter business in renaming would only be the criteria FR#2 and FR#3, the remainder (including FR#1!) should warrant a deeper scrutiny when encountering it, and doing name changes by one's own discretion should be limited to the criteria 2 (meaningless name), 3 (obvious error) and perhaps 5 (rule violation). Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 00:30, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
