Grandad's fiddle -1890
In 1965 Grandad gave me his old fiddle. He was a little reluctant at first, but he finally gave in after a few persuasive words from Mum. He hadn't played it for many years but he was pretty good at one time, playing Irish jigs and reels. He said, "This fiddle has been very special for me. I bought it for $7.00 when I was about 16 years old, in 1905. It was already 15 years old then."
I managed to learn "Maple Sugar" but had to quit after relentless protests from our dogs. . .
